The air at Lestel Naha, a charming hotel in Okinawa, was buzzing with excitement on the opening night of “Lost Time,” a inviting art exhibition by local artist Moe Takaesu. It was a truly spectacular evening, drawing in a wonderful mix of locals and visitors eager to immerse themselves in Okinawan culture and contemporary art.
那覇の魅力的なホテル、レステル那覇は、地元アーティスト、高江洲 萌さんによる魅力的な美術展「ロスト・タイム」のオープニングナイトで興奮に包まれました。この夜はまさに壮観で、沖縄の文化と現代アートに触れたいと願う地元の人々と観光客が素晴らしい混ざり合いを見せました。
Guests were treated to an incredibly intimate experience of Ryukyu Buyo, traditional Okinawan dance, performed by the Megumi Mercado Dance Group. Six distinct dances were showcased, each brought to life by the vibrantly robed dancers. Their golden yellow bingata kimonos and striking bright red hanagasa hats were so captivating that they even drew curious passersby into the hotel lobby to witness the spectacle.

The evening’s cultural tapestry continued with a soulful sanshin performance by Okinawa Dreamer, an American sanshin player who enchanted the audience with his music.
夜の文化的なタペストリーは、アメリカ人三線奏者であるオキナワドリーマーさんによる魂のこもった三線演奏へと続き、聴衆をその音楽で魅了しました。
The grand finale of the opening ceremony was a lively and interactive Kachashi dance. The head dance sensei offered an easy-to-understand explanation of this traditional Okinawan dance, and soon, the entire crowd was joyfully waving their hands in the air, dancing together to the live sanshin music.
オープニングセレモニーのフィナーレは、活気に満ちたインタラクティブな「カチャーシー」でした。舞踊の師範がこの沖縄の伝統舞踊をわかりやすく説明し、すぐに会場全体が、生演奏の三線音楽に合わせて手を振りながら、楽しそうに一体となって踊り始めました。
After the captivating performances, attendees had the wonderful opportunity to chat directly with artist Moe Takaesu about her “Lost Time” exhibition and the various artworks on display. To refresh and delight guests, non-alcoholic cocktails featuring e-no turmeric were served, offering a revitalizing and delicious shot of Okinawan flavor.

“Lost Time” can be viewed at Lestel Naha until Sunday, 8/11 (Mountain Day). The hotel lobby and café is open daily from 7am until 11pm.
