Natural Diner Tamatebako

未分類

Since opening in August 2020 on the charming Ryugu Dori in Naha, Natural Diner Tamatebako has been sharing plant-based comfort with locals and travelers alike. Inspired by the folktale of Urashima Taro, the name Tamatebako reflects the feeling every guest experiences here — as if opening a special treasure box of nourishment and delight.

Among the treasures is the popular vegan laksa, pictured above.

This vibrant, coconut-based noodle soup was inspired by Tama-san’s first taste of laksa at a Malaysian restaurant in Japan. That spark led to a journey through Malaysia to understand and explore the many styles of laksa, ultimately resulting in a Tamatebako original made with fresh Okinawan ingredients — including “e-no” organic turmeric, grown with care right here on the island.

To stay hydrated and cool down, we recommend the refreshing home brewed ukon ade:

This golden drink is made with the same “e-no” organic turmeric, and offers a naturally zesty and uplifting boost.

Whether you’re vegan, veg-curious, or simply love good food made with intention, we invite you to open the box — your Tamatebako — and enjoy.

Tama-san, who many may remember as the former manager of Okinawa’s first vegan restaurant, Ukishima Garden also organizes morning farmers markets in Naha in his free time and strives to support local organic farmers and small businesses around the island.
