Just 90 meters from her design shop See Em Why K and the creative hub HUE Creators’ Guild, Mieko Matsumaru Murao and her team have brought a new kind of experience to life. Scoop is more than just a gelato shop — it’s a celebration of Okinawa, told through flavors, textures, and local collaborations.
The menu reflects years of working hand-in-hand with Okinawan creators and growers, resulting in unexpected pairings and seasonal treats you won’t find anywhere else.
Take the shima tofu gelato, for example — smooth, savory, and topped with a drizzle of soy sauce that brings out the richness of the tofu in an entirely new way. Or the bright and juicy tankan sorbet, finished with a delicate chocolate koji sauce that adds depth without overpowering the citrus.

And of course, we couldn’t leave out beniimo, a beloved Okinawan classic. At Scoop, it’s given a local twist with a scoop of purple sweet potato gelato served alongside handmade beniimo cookies from a beloved Okinawan confectionery. It’s nostalgic, comforting, and quietly elegant.

Scoop isn’t just about gelato, either. The drink menu features thoughtful collaborations like Tsuboya Blend Coffee brewed with Takahara Coffee, the Okinawa Chai Latte made with Shisa Chai from Chai Need Us, and the gently spiced Golden Latte, made with organic e-no Ryudai Gold Turmeric. Warm, smooth, and caffeine-free, it’s quickly become a go-to for locals and visitors alike.
When Scoop opened its doors in April, the grand opening felt more like a neighborhood celebration — with giveaways, community connections, and plenty of gelato. I even won a box of Lafra cookies!
At Scoop, every product is crafted with care, highlighting the flavors and traditions of Okinawa. From the gelato to the drinks, it’s all about supporting local businesses and offering a taste of Okinawa’s finest.
Whether you come for a scoop, a sip, or just to see what’s new, Scoop offers a delicious way to discover Okinawa — one scoop at a time.
